This website is dedicated to my Father (third from left), and all of his oppos, who defined and then taught me the Commando Spirit of Courage, Determination, Unselfishness, and Cheerfulness.

From his own journals, which he kept throughout the war, I try to tell his story here - Where it Began.

About us

For over 20 years, I have had the honour of capturing images of iconic military figures of the Royal Marines Commando and the Bands of His Majesty's Royal Marines in photo and video formats. Encouraged by great men like Charlie Hobson, Simon Hill and Paddy Dunn, I have spent some of the most enjoyable and rewarding years of my life as Official Photographer to the Royal Marines Association, as well as helping to produce artwork for covers of the Royal Marines Association Concert Band's recordings, and providing front cover images for the Globe & Laurel magazine - Official Journal of The Royal Marines.   I share my life with American Quarter Horses, a pack of Irish Wolfhounds and an outstandingly understanding wife!! Life is good.

Working closely with the Corps over these years has been both a pleasure and a privilege, and with three generations of Royal Marines in my family, spanning two world wars and the 1980s, I know very well just what a privilege that is. With a Grandfather who, in the RMLI, survived the Boer War and the Great War, and  a Father who, in 41 Commando, survived Walcheren, Dieppe and, despite having the flesh to the bone of an  arm blown off by a mortar shell, the D-Day Landings,  to go on and help liberate France, having already fought across the breadth of North Africa and on into Sicily and Salerno. It has understandably become my de facto specialisation. Full access to this website is reserved exclusively for members of the Royal Marines family. Copies of photos (not videos) are available to those with a particularly personal interest, for a modest donation to RMA - The Royal Marines Charity.
