1. Privacy Policy

 

1.1 In compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018 - General Data Protection Regulations, no personal data is collected, stored, or retained in any way other than the minimum which is required to allow your access to this site, which includes only the basic contact details you provide us with. If ever you wish us to remove this small amount of data from our records, please contact us and we will be happy to do so. We use the minimum number of cookies on this site. These are required only for its basic functionality and operation.

1.2 We value your privacy as much as we value our own and have robust measures in place to maintain the site's security for our visitors. A full description and explanation of the site's operational data processes and procedures are below.

1.3 We receive, collect, and store any information you enter on our website or provide us in any other way. In addition, we collect the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your device to the website; login; e-mail address; password; device and connection information. We may use software tools to maintain the site’s security, protect     copyrighted material and measure and collect session information, including page response times, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information, and methods used to browse away from the page. We also collect personally identifiable information (including name, email, password, and communications) which you provide us with in order to grant access to otherwise restricted areas of the site. Necessary cookies enable core functionality. The website cannot function properly without these cookies and can only be disabled by changing your browser preferences.

 

1.4 When you subscribe to our website, as part of the process, we collect personal information you give us such as your name, address and email address. Your personal information will be used for the specific reasons stated above only. This information is never shared with, or divulged to, any third parties. It is held in the strictest confidence.

 

1.5 We collect such Non-personal and Personal Information for the following purposes:

1.5.1 To provide and operate the Services

1.5.2 To provide our Users with ongoing customer assistance and technical support

1.5.3 To be able to contact our Visitors and Users with general or personalized service-related notices and messages

1.5.4 To create aggregated statistical data and other aggregated and/or inferred Non-personal Information

2. Legal Notes, Ethos & Modus Operandi

​​2.1 Globe & Laurel Imagery is an independent media platform which is not directly associated with the Corps, any of its branches or associations, or "The Globe & Laurel - Official Journal of the Royal Marines". The website's intent is to provide media content exclusively for the benefit of the Royal Marines family. Globe & Laurel Imagery Ltd is a not-for-profit organisation limited by guarantee, registered in England & Wales:  Company No. 13463581. Any revenue, howsoever generated, will be donated to the Royal Marines Association - The Royal Marines Charity.

2.2 Wheresoever stated, the Royal Marines Family, Wider Family, or Extended Family, shall mean Serving Regular or Reserve personnel, Former Regular or Reserve personnel, Members of the Royal Marines Volunteer Cadet Corps, Royal Marines Cadet Detachments of the SCC or CCF and the Families and Close Friends of all the aforementioned.

 

2.3 Wheresoever illustrated, The Corps Crest is reproduced with permission of the MOD in compliance with the conditions of the Ministry Of Defence Illustration License issued by Defence Intellectual Property Rights as V1.0 January 2017. Crown copyright. It is used to demonstrate our allegiance to the Corps and its values. The Armed Forces Covenant mark is used on the About Us page according to the rules set out in the MOD Armed Forces Covenant Brand Guidelines. Globe & Laurel Imagery Ltd are signatories to the covenant.

2.4 Click-through devices displayed throughout the site, either as images, buttons, or underlined text, are placed for the convenience of users and are not intended to imply direct association with the target organisation; to whom the copyright of any images or insignia contained within those devices belong. All other images, content and design are copyright protected by Globe & Laurel Imagery Ltd 2001-2021 unless otherwise credited. All rights reserved. Any attempt to copy images directly from this site (to whomsoever copyrights belong) is an infringement of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.

2.5 Copies of photos (not videos) from the Gallery section of the website are available on request to those with a demonstrable legitimate interest, in return for a modest donation to RMA - The Royal Marines Charity. Please use the Contact page to make such requests. Such photographs will be provided only for the personal use of the applicant unless otherwise expressly agreed in writing. The criteria for what constitutes legitimate interest shall be at the discretion of the website administrator. Any photos that are provided in this way will retain the enduring copyright of the originator.

2.6 All donations associated with the conditions of para 2.5 must be made directly to RMA - The Royal Marines Charity, not to Globe & Laurel Imagery, and will require verification by the applicant prior to release of any media. Globe & Laurel Imagery has not sought, nor intends to seek, authority from the charity to accept donations on its behalf.

2.7 This platform consists of two types of publication. Static Pages (those which don't frequently change), and Dynamic Pages (those which change frequently and to which additional material is added regularly). Material contained within the Static Pages will generally not be made available off-platform other than for exceptional reasons.

2.8 Access to the Dynamic Pages, which includes the Galleries section of the website, shall be restricted to members of the Royal Marines wider family (see Para 2.2) by subscription. There is no fee for subscription, it is a method used merely to control access in order to maintain exclusivity. You can log in or sign up here.

2.9 We reserve the right to amend these terms, but only in order to stay aligned with ever changing technologies and remain compliant with all relevant laws which apply to this platform's content and operation. In this respect, we shall be governed by English Law, and any Rules and Regulations which persist as a result of the United Kingdom's former membership of the European Union. No changes will be made to the modus operandi of the website, unless a change in law requires us to do so; in which case, such changes will be communicated to all subscribers.

2.10 Ultimately, in the most unlikely event you ever have a concern or complaint about any of this website's content which has not been resolved to your satisfaction in a reasonable amount of time by first contacting the website administrator, you can escalate your concern or complaint with the Communications Ombudsman by clicking on this link: https://www.ombudsman-services.org/sectors/communications the UK communications regulator approved by Ofcom.
